Jiaqi Shi, MD, Ph.D.

Jiaqi Shi, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Michigan (UM). Dr. Shi received her Pathology residency training at the University of Arizona and UM and completed her subspecialty Gastrointestinal Pathology training at UM.

She was recruited to UM as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020. Dr. Shi is a physician-scientist with a research interest in pancreas pathology and pancreatic cancer biology. Dr. Shi has received an NCI Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award (K08), NCI MERIT (Method to Extend Research in Time) Award (R37), and Benjamin Castleman Award from the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP).

She has served as a member of the NIH ZRG1 MCTC-S study section, reviewer for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) of UK, and Abstract Review Board member of USCAP and American Gastroenterological Association (AGA).

Hong Sun, Suny, earned her PhD from the University of Michigan, studying the crosstalk between endothelial cells and head and neck cancer cells. She completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan.

Suny is the lab manager of Shi lab and continues to study the changes in tumor microenvironment induced by epigenetic alteration in pancreatic cancer.

Sepideh Babaniamansour, M.D.

Sepideh Babaniamansour earned her MD from The Islamic Azad University, Tehran Medical Branch, Tehran, Iran. Her research focus on the role of checkpoint inhibitors in the KMT2D deficient pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, tumor microenvironment.

Sargis Shameon

Sargis joined Shi’s lab in October 2022 as an undergraduate research assistant as a part of the UROP program. He is participating in the study of the pancreatic tumor microenviroment and the epigenetic regulations thereof. He is currently pursuing his BSc. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Michigan.
